Pine Cone Turkey Card-Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Easel Cards 004

Easel Cards 007
In an effort to use the gazillion pine cones we have at our mountain property in Colorado, I decided to make this easel card just in time for Thanksgiving. (to learn how to create an easel card, please visit my posting dated November 19)

1. Cut a pine cone in half around the center using a long pair of pruners.  The cut off end will be attached to your completed easel card.  The flat end or what was the bottom of the pine cone, will have the punched turkey face and body attached to it.  See the photos below.

2. Create the turkey face and body.  I punched out the body using my scallop circle punch and Creamy Carmel card stock.  The face was punched out using my 1 1/4 inch circle punch.  I sponged on some Creamy Carmel ink and drew in feathers using a Creamy Carmel marker.  I cut a triangle out of a scrap piece of Only Orange for the beak.  His waddle was punched out of scrap Real Red card stock using my Five Petal Flower punch and then trimmed down to two petals.  The wiggly eyes came from a local hobby store and were attached with Mini Glue Dots.  The hat and brim were cut out of scrap Basic Black card stock.  I attached the face to the body and the hat to the face using SNAIL Adhesive.

3. Attach the punched body to the bottom of the pine cone using a hot glue gun.

4. Attach the cut end of the pine cone to the finished easel card, also using a hot glue gun.

5. Peel off two scales from the remaining top half of the pine cone for his feet.  Attach using a hot glue gun.

Cut the pine cone in half using a long pair of pruners:

Doesn’t this look like the body of a turkey, complete with feathers?  Attach the punched face and body to this end:

This cut end will be attached to the card:
