Snowman Diorama Card

As the countdown to Christmas gets closer, I thought I’d share some random Christmas cards I’ve made over the last few weeks.

This happy snowman diorama card is one of the samples I made for possible projects for our Nacho Average Stamp Camp held in September.  It was one of the projects chosen after a few minor adjustments.  But, here is the original design.

Diorama card 002

Making a diorama card is very simple. Here’s how:

Start with 2 pieces of card stock measuring 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.  Score both pieces on the short edges at 1/2″ and 1″ from each end.

Cut a window out of one of the pieces using the Big Shot, dies or framelits. This will be the front of your diorama.

For the window on this card, I used the Big Shot and 2nd smallest sized Labels Collection Framelit.  I simply aligned the framelit between the score lines so it would be centered.

I created the Early Espresso frame for the window using the Big Shot and the 2nd and 3rd smallest sized Label Collection Framelits, nested one inside the other and then and attached around the window using SNAIL Adhesive.

Emboss or stamp each piece before assembly.  I used the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

The “hills” were cut out of Whisper White and Island Indigo card stock using the Big Shot and Tasteful Trim die.  They were trimmed to fit and attached to the back side of the front of the diorama.

The snowman is from Button Buddies, stamped using Island Indigo ink on Whisper White card stock and then cut out using scissors.  He is attached to the back piece of the diorama using a Dimensional.

To assemble the diorama, fold the sides of both the front and back pieces.  Both pieces will fold the same way so they fit together.  The 1″ fold will be a “valley” fold and the 1/2″ fold will be a “mountain” fold.  Apply Sticky Strip to flap of bottom piece of the diorama.  Peel off the red backing and place the top of the diorama to the bottom piece, making sure the edges are aligned.

Finish decorating as desired!
