Rain or Shine Shaker Card-Nacho Average Sketch Challenge #29

Week 29 over at the Nacho Average Challenge site, and we have a sketch challenge!

Here is my contribution:

Rain or Shine 021

I love, love the new stamp set “Rain or Shine” from Stampin’ Up! (found in the Spring catalog), and this sketch is perfect for creating a shaker card.

I started by cutting out a frame out of Baja Breeze card stock covered with a layer of Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper using my Big Shot and Labels Collection framelit.  I then stamped my images on a piece of Whisper White card stock measuring 3 3/4″ x 3 1/4″.  I then cut a piece of window sheet the same size, 3 3/4″ x 3 1/4″.  I attached the window sheet to the back side of the Baja Breeze frame using SNAIL adhesive.

Now for the fun part-creating the shaker pieces.  I started by punching some Gumball Green, Rich Razzleberry and Baja Breeze card stock using the Pierced Hearts punch.  When you use this punch, you are left with a bunch of itty, bitty punched hearts.  I collected them in a pile and realized that I would have to punch a whole lot of them to fill the shaker card!  So, I got out my 1/16″ hole punch with the intent of punching a bunch of little holes.  What was punched out would be what I used in the frame.  I then realized that the hole punch had a little compartment where all the pieces that I have punched over the years were stored!  I simply opened up the little door, and out came a pile of itty, bitty circles that would easily be enough for the card.

Here’s the pile! Isn’t this pretty??

Once I had my shaker bits and pieces, I added some Shaker Frame pieces around the edge of the back side of the window sheet.  The Shaker Frames come in various circles, so I simply snipped the circles, opening them up to long pieces, then fitting them around the edges of the window sheet.  Once that was done, I carefully put all my shaker pieces on top of my stamped image, keeping them towards the center of the image.  After peeling off the backing on the Shaker Frames, I simply laid the upper frame over the stamped image.  The shaker pieces are in between the window sheet and and stamped image.

Because the Whisper White card and window sheet were larger than the the Labels frame, I simply trimmed away the edges to match the frame.  I then cut another frame out of Rich Razzleberry and 2 of the Labels framelits.  I attached this frame around the Baja Breeze frame, covering any of the excess window sheet.

Here’s the original sketch:
