This week, we have a sketch challenge over at the Nacho Average challenge site.
Here’s my contribution:
For some reason, I really struggled with this sketch. I just couldn’t seem to get the two horizontal strips of paper to look right. Everything I did just seemed forced. So, I took another route. I let the placement of the words satisfy the placement on the sketch.
For this card, I did the Bokeh technique using white craft ink and the ColorBox Chalk Ink pads found in the Occasions Catalog. The Bokeh technique is one of my all-time favorites, and I love the mix of colors and ink on this card.
I first made a circles template out of card stock using my 1″ and 1 1/4″ circle punches. Then, I stenciled in the circles on chalkboard paper using a sponge dauber and white craft ink. I then used sponge daubers without the stencil to fill in the spaces using the chalk and white craft inks. While the inks were still wet, I heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. I was afraid the chalk inks would fade a little, and I wanted the colors to stay bright. The greeting is Wish Big from a My Paper Pumpkin kit. It was stamped on a piece of window sheet using white Stazon ink.
