Flowering Flourishes Canning Jar Ring Coasters

Flowering Flourishes Canning Jar Ring Coasters

I saw this idea recently on Pinterest and knew I had to give it a try since I had a lot of canning jar rings in my crafting stash.

Flowering Flourishes Canning Jar Ring CoastersI made these to give as thank-you gifts for an upcoming class for the Wetmore Ladies.

They are so easy to make and make a fun gift.

What you need:

ring from a canning jar lid.  I used the ring for jelly jars as that is what I had on hand.  Canning jar lid sets (lids and rings) are sold separately so you don’t need to purchase the complete jars.  You won’t use the lids for this project.  Keep them in your stash to use for other crafting ideas.  I’m working on some projects that I’ll share at a later date!

cork board-I used some leftover SU! corkboard that I had in my stash.   The corkboard is nice because it is lightweight, easy to cut, and will soak up the moisture from a glass.  I would think crafting foam would work too.

Stazon ink-Use Stazon so the stamped image doesn’t run when moisture is added.  You can also stamp your image using colored ink or Versamark, then heat emboss it using clear or colored embossing powder.

stamp-choose images based on your theme.  Fall, Christmas, Easter, housewarming, Bridal Shower etc…

Big Shot or punch to cut a circle out of the corkboard.  I used 2 3/4″ circle die and my Big Shot.

Optional:  spray paint to paint the rings various colors depending on your theme.  They do sell colored canning jar lid sets: red, green, purple, gold, galvanized, and the standard silver shown above.

1.  Cut or punch a circle out of the corkboard.

2. Stamp your image using Stazon ink.

3. Insert the corkboard into the ring.  Push the corkboard into the edges of the ring to secure.

That’s it!  Easy, Easy!  Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming soon.  These would make quick and simple gifts to give to hostesses as a thank-you for those upcoming holiday meals and parties!

I originally made a coaster for myself to test it out to make sure the idea would work.  It does, and I used my test coaster daily to hold my frosted Royal Gorge Train pint glass filled with sun tea!
