We have a color challenge this week over at the Nacho Average Challenge Site.
We hope you’ll play along!
Here’s my contribution:
The inspiration for this card comes from the vivid sunsets that we are seeing due to the Hayden Pass Fire near the small community of Coaldale, CO. Although this fire is a good 40 miles from us, the smoke blowing our way over the last few days has provided us with some beautiful sunsets. Beautiful, but sad. The fire has burned 15,000+ acres, but containment is increasing. Good news for sure. Mandatory evacuations have been in place for several days. Unfortunately, the evacuees are being told they will not be able to return home for at least another 7-10 days. I can’t even imagine how they are coping. This is the worst nightmare for all of us who live in and near the mountains.
I do know that residents of the surrounding areas have been very generous with their food, clothing and other goods. There has also been a lot of time and support donated to the effort of evacuating pets and livestock.
Our hearts go out to our neighbors.
