I’m always looking for ways to recycle and reuse.
This was the case recently as I was about to throw away a cardboard box.
Instead of just tossing it, I ripped off one of the flaps and peeled away the upper layer of paper, revealing the corrugation underneath.
Cool!
I decided to pair it with the 2-step stamp set Dragonfly Dreams and coordinating Detailed Dragonfly, and Pretty Pines Thinlits dies to create my own little water landscape.
My inspiration came from the Hardscrabble Creek which runs along the front of our property. In the summer, it is frequently visited by dragonflies, flying up and down, patrolling for bugs.
To create the dragonfly, I inked up the solid image of the wings by tapping both Dapper Denim and Garden Green inks onto the stamp. After stamping the wings onto a piece of scrap Whisper White card stock, I over stamped using the 2-step dragonfly body using Early Espresso ink.
Then, I cut it out using my Big Shot and the coordinating dragonfly thinlits die.
The foliage was cut out of Garden Green card stock using the Pretty Pines thinlits dies.
I left a piece of solid paper on the bottom of the cardboard intentionally for my greeting which came from Butterfly Basics stamped in Dapper Denim ink.
I mounted the cardboard onto a piece of Dapper Denim matting, then onto a Crumb Cake card base.
I slipped the leaves under the top of the paper using SNAIL adhesive, then popped up the dragonfly using a Dimensional.
I love the texture and interest the torn cardboard brings to this card!
