I’m obsessed with the painted rock movement!
Have you heard of it?
It’s big here in southern Colorado.
Find a rock, paint it, and leave it in a public space for someone to find.
That person, in turn, takes the rock and leaves it somewhere else for someone else to find.
I’ve been busy looking for and painting rocks!
We have no shortage of rocks here at my house as you can tell from my posting HERE.
I’m not a painter by any means and sometimes coming up with an idea and getting it onto the rock without messing it up can be a little stressful.
I’m often holding my breath the whole time!
Instead, I’ve found that it is easier for me to combine a little Stampin’ Up! to the process.
In the rock above, I first painted it with a mix of blue acrylic paint.
While the paint was drying, I got out my Big Shot, Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies, and some card stock and designer paper.
I first attached the paper (Delightful Daisy DSP for the pine boughs, Soft Suede card stock and retired Soft Suede DSP for the pine cones, and Cherry Cobbler card stock for the bow)
to pieces of Multi-purpose Adhesive Paper.
I then cut them out using my Big Shot and Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies.
I peeled off the backing on the adhesive paper, giving each piece a sticky back, allowing me to apply them easily to the rock.
Once all the pieces were in place, I added a coat of decoupage to glue and seal the rock.
I added some rhinestones that I colored with a blue Sharpie pen. I also wrote the greeting, “Happy Winter” using the pen to complete the rock.
I know I’m supposed to leave the rock somewhere for someone else to find, but I think I’m going to keep this one!
