Paper Towel Watercolor Background

I loved Sherrill Graff’s idea of creating hand-made paper by wetting Whisper White card stock, then stippling on ink, creating pretty watercolor patterns.
I created these thank you cards using that technique, but instead of Whisper White, I used watercolor paper.
I spritzed on water until the paper was really wet. With a wet stipple brush, I added Highland Heather and Bermuda Bay inks. Then, I added coarse kosher salt. I let the ink and salt set, then blotted it with a paper towel, and set it aside to dry.
The salt leaves interesting splotches.
The 2nd set of cards were made with the paper towel. I always try to use the paper towels I have used to blot Sprinkles or watercolor.
What a great way to recycle and reuse!
I separated the plys, attached it to a card stock base with SNAIL so I could easily cut it down for cards.
See more paper towel background cards here. It’s a great way to recycle and reuse!
