Crafting with Aluminum Cans-Colorado Native

What I can make with aluminum cans!

I’ve shared many of the cards I have created over the years using beer or soda aluminum cans.

My husband drinks a variety of craft beers, and I’m always confiscating the cans afterwards.

I cut the cans down and use the fun and colorful labels to create cards.

It’s good to recycle and reuse, plus they make great masculine-themed cards!

(you can see some of the cards HERE)

This card was made using a can of Colorado Native West Slope IPA.

Colorado Native is owned by Coors Brewing, and they only use Colorado ingredients.

I cut the can down to use for this birthday card for our neighbor, Dale.

He is also a beer drinker, so I knew he’d appreciate the card.

Here’s How:

  1. Rinse out the can and set aside to dry.
  2. Cut the can using my instructions below:

I have a full-length how-to video tutorial on my YouTube Channel Here

I’m also on TikTok, and recently shared this short video on how to cut and use the cans:

3. Working around the writing on the label, trim the can to fit your project.

4. Stamp greeting from Blossoms in Bloom on Basic White card front using Memento Black ink.  I used the Stamparatus.

5. Emboss card front using die-cut machine and Painted Texture embossing folder.

6. Attach to Cajun Craze mat and card base.  Because the can will have a slight curve, it is best to attach the can and mat to the card front using brads on the four corners.  This will help secure the can in place so it doesn’t bow up.  I used my Take a Pick Tool to pierce small holes for the brads.  I used brads from my stash.

7. Insert the brads and open the wings.  Attach card front to card base to complete.

The possibilities are endless!

I’d love to see some of your aluminum can creations!
