Ombre Blending Technique using Decorative Masks from Stampin’ Up!

Ombre Technique with Decorative Masks

Have you seen the Decorative Masks from Stampin’ Up!?

Creating textured backgrounds is so easy.  Use with Embossing Paste and Palette Knives or Classic Stampin’ Ink.

For these cards, I used the Ombre Blending Technique with one of the four decorative mask found in the Basic Patterns pack.

Here’s How:

  1. To create a space for the greeting, cut a 1/2″ wide piece out of a post-it-note.  Be sure to include the sticky part of the post-it-note as part of your strip.  That way, the piece will be held in place while you create the ombre effect.  Place the strip on your card front.
  2. Place a decorative mask over the card front securing it in place with pieces of washi or painter’s tape.
  3. With a blending brush, add your first color over the decorative mask.  For this card, my first color was Balmy Blue.
  4. Add a second color.  My second color was Pacific Point.  Continue adding a third and fourth color.  My third color was Gorgeous Grape, and my fourth color was Night of Navy.
  5. Remove the mask and post-it-note.  Stamp greeting.  I used the thank you greeting from Sweet Strawberry using Basic Gray ink.
  6. Attach card front to Misty Moonlight mat.  Attach to Gorgeous Grape card base.
  7. To add a little bling, I colored two rhinestones using Night of Navy Stampin’ Blend.  Adhere to the card front to complete.

The Ombre effect using Decorative Masks is easy!

The color possibilities are endless!

For this card, I used Gorgeous Grape, Fresh Freesia, and Rich Razzleberry inks.

The greeting is from Sharing Sunshine.
