Upcycle Paper Towels in Card Crafting-Waves of Inspiration

Upcycle Paper Towels in Card Crafting

I often upcycle the paper towels I’ve used to clean stamps or blot watercolors in my card crafting.

The paper towels have a mix of bright and exciting colors, plus they add textural interest to my projects.

Here’s How:

  1. Separate the ply on the paper towel.  Attach one ply to a piece of card stock backing.  I used Stampin’ Seal/tape runner adhesive, but any kind will work.  By attaching it to a background, you’ll be able to cut the paper towel to size easily.
  2. Initially, for this card, I intended to have the grass, and the pelican stamped directly onto the paper towel.  So the pelican would be behind the grass, I used the Masking Technique. I stamped the grass from the Oceanfront stamp set on a post-it-note and cut it out.  I placed the mask on the paper towel card front and stamped the pelican image over it. Then I removed the mask and stamped the grass in the space left by the mask.
  3. Design Change!  After doing this, I decided I did not like it.  The pelican needed to stand out more.  So, I stamped and cut out another image on Basic White card stock and popped it up over the original stamped image.  Much better!  Sometimes, a slight pivot in your design makes all the difference in the final outcome!
  4. Stamp the birds on the card front using Night of Navy ink.  Attach to Pacific Point mat and Basic White card base.
  5. Stamp greeting from Beauty of Friendship using Night of Navy ink.

Done!
