Upcycle! Crafting with Aluminum Can Labels

Crafting with Aluminum Can Labels

Upcycle!

I’ve shared many of the cards I have created over the years using beer or soda aluminum cans.

My husband drinks a variety of craft beers, and I’m always confiscating the cans afterward.

I cut the cans down and use the fun and colorful labels to create cards.

It’s good to recycle and reuse, plus they make great masculine-themed cards!

You can see some of the cards HERE-including a video tutorial on how to cut down the cans for use in card making)

I used the label from a can of cola from the Rocky Mountain Soda Company located in Denver, CO.

Each type of soda features an animal on the label.  In this case, the cola can has a bison on it.  Love it!

What’s different about this card is that I didn’t actually use the can for my card.

The can does not have a printed label. Instead the label is a vinyl sleeve.

I ran a pair of scissors down the side to remove the label.

To make it easy, there was a perforated seam.

I was able to carefully peel the label from the can once the seam was cut.

Then, it was just a matter of flattening the label, attaching it to a piece of card stock so I could easily cut it to the size I needed, mat the pieces, and attach to a card front.

This card is a great masculine-themed card, coming together in just a few minutes.

Take a look at beer and soda cans for their interesting and unique labels.

I guarantee, you’ll never look at an aluminum can the same way again!

The possibilities are endless!
