Give it a Whirl Dies-Robot Buddy Birthday Card

Give it a Whirl Dies

Robot Buddy Birthday Card for our 3-year-old grandson

Give it a Whirl Dies

Our grandson is turning 3 years old, and I decided his birthday card should be a twirly card using the Give it a Whirl dies combined with elements of the Robot Buddies card kit.

A robot twirly card is perfect for a kid who is into anything mechanical.

The dies and the Robot Buddies card kit make it easy to create.

Here’s How:

  1. Use one of the card bases that comes in the kit.  Trim it in half so one of the pieces is now your card front.
  2. Use the Give it a Whirl dies to cut the pieces needed to make the twirly mechanism:

-Cut the card front down using a die-cut machine and the full rectangle die.

-Cut the wheel out of Balmy Blue card stock.

-Cut the opening in the card front using one of the shapes in the die set.  I used the  shaped die. Be sure to line up the hole on the shape with the hole on the card front.  This hole is where you’ll insert a brad to allow the wheel to spin.

3.   Decorate the wheel using the stickers in the kit.

4.  Create the whirly wheel by inserting a brad through the small hole in the card front and the small hole in the wheel.  The wheel should now spin.

5.  Decorate the card front using the stickers in the kit.  Stamp the Happy Birthday greeting in the kit on scrap Pumpkin Pie card stock using Night of Navy ink.  Then, cut it out using the rectangle die and attach to the card front using Dimensionals to pop it up.

6. Attach pieces of Adhesive Foam Strips along the edges of the back of the card front.  This will add space so the wheel has room to turn.

7.  Remove the backing on the strips and attach the card front to Night of Navy card base.

8.  Cut out one of the directional arrows out of Pumpkin Pie card stock using the die and attach it to the side of the wheel using a small amount of Liquid Glue.

  Done!

Your wheel should spin showing the different sticker images!
