Have you noticed the Rugged Icons Dies on page 174 of the Annual Catalog?

I didn’t until recently, even after going through the catalog numerous times!

Rugged Icons Dies

Rugged Icons

We all know that person who exudes rugged toughness. With the Rugged Icon Dies, you can let them know how much they inspire you! These adventurer dies are designed in a modern monoline style, which is sure to appeal to everyone. Get creative by layering different colored card stock to enhance the details built into the dies.

I like all of the dies, but especially like the mountain landscape.  It fits perfectly for my setting in the mountains of Southern Colorado.

I paired the mountain landscape die with Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper and Lovely Layers Vellum for these cards.

In both cases, I let the vellum and designer paper do the heavy lifting to create different backgrounds.

Here’s How:

  1. Die-cut landscape out of Basic Black card stock.
  2. Attach Lovely Layers Vellum to Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper.  Each measures 5″ x 3 3/4″. Use a small amount of Tombow Liquid or Fine Tip Glue on the corners of the vellum.  A little goes a long way, as you don’t want it showing through the vellum.
  3. Attach die-cut using a small amount of Tombow Liquid or Fine Tip Glue.
  4. Stamp greeting (Pansy Patch) using Black Stazon ink.
  5. Attach to Basic Black mat, then to card base (Basic White and Mint Macaron)
  6. Add Black Matte dots to cover any glue showing through the vellum on the corners.

Done!

The possibilities are endless!
