Stamping With Blue Moon Creations

Using Drywall Tape as a Background

Using Drywall Tape as a Background

Drywall Tape Background Technique paired with Sending Smiles for a fun and interesting background!

Use the sticky-backed tape used for drywalling for added interest in your card-making.

The drywall tape comes in a roll and can be found at your local home improvement store.

Here’s what the roll looks like. I’ve had this roll in my crafting stash for many years.

It’s a mesh with a sticky back.  Just cut off the amount needed with scissors, and place it on your card front.

Then, add color through the mesh using Blender Brushes or sponges.

Here’s what it looks like rolled out. On black card stock so it is visible.

The possibilities are endless!

Here’s How:

1.Determine how long a piece of drywall tape is needed for your project and cut using scissors.

2. Place the tape on your card front.  It has a sticky back and easily sticks to the card stock.

3. Add colors through the mesh With a Blender Brush or sponge.  I used Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather, and Boho Blue for this card.

4.Add as little or as much ink as you want.  When satisfied, simply remove the tape, leaving you with a fun colored grid pattern.

Now to finish the card:

5.Die-cut the greeting using the Sending die set.  Cut the solid background out of Fresh Freesia and the detail greeting out of Basic Black.  Attach using a small amount of Fine Tip or Liquid Glue.

6.Stamp greeting from Sending Smiles below the grid pattern using Memento Black ink.

7.Attach the card front to a Basic Black mat.  Then, attach it to a Fresh Freesia card base.

8.Attach the greeting using Mini Dimensionals to pop it up.

9.Add enamel dots tocomplete.

Give the Drywall Tape Background a try.

I’d love to see your creations!
