Multi-Candle Birthday Card
for my Dad’s 90th birthday!
A great way to specialize and celebrate a birthday, especially a milestone birthday.
You know, those ending in an 0!
I guarantee your recipient will count the candles to make sure you have all of them!
It’s also a great way to use up paper scraps.
You can see the card in action HERE
Multi-Candle Birthday Card How To:
Paper measurements:
-4 1/4″ x 11″, card base scored at 5 1/4″ ” and 10 1/2″. Secure 10 candles on each piece. One card base will hold 20 candles.
-fold at the score lines. The 1/2″ piece is glued to the next 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece. Add as many card bases as needed for the number of candles you want to have.
-cut strips of card stock and designer papers 1/4″-1/”2 wide and 2 3/4″-3 1/4″ long.
-apply strips to card bases, 10 candles to a side. Be sure to mix up the colors and lengths.
-stamp or punch a candle flame above each candle. I used the flame image from the retired Build a Birthday stamp set. You could also use the “wing” from the retired Build a Bird punch.
-decorate the front of the card as desired. I used a piece of retired designer paper for the front matted to a piece of Coastal Cabana card stock and paired it with a greeting die-cut out of Basic Black card stock using the retired Happy Birthday die. I attached it to a vellum card stock circle and Basic Black mat die-cut using the Deckled Circle Dies.
-decorate the end inside panel of the card as desired. I used Build a Birthday, stamping each part of the cake and stand in Coastal Cabana, Blackberry Bliss, Crushed Curry, and Pumpkin Pie inks. And I added Crushed Curry Dots as embellishments to complete.
I apologize for the quality of this photo. I didn’t think to take a close-up photo of the end inside panel before sending the card off to my Dad!
The possibilities are endless!
Thank you to my friend Sandy Taylor for sharing this wonderful idea!
