Iris Folded Heart Anniversary Card How-to:
-You’ll need an Iris Folding pattern like this heart, (print out on copy paper)
You can find numerous Iris Folding patterns online including my Iris Folding Page HERE
.
-and designer paper cut in 1/2” wide strips. The number of patterns of paper depends on the number of sections in the iris folding pattern.
Note: usually in iris folding, you would fold the strip of paper in half and place the folded edge along the pattern.
I find that adds bulk to the project, so I use single strips instead.
This heart pattern has 3 sections. I used strips of Country Woods, along with retired designer series paper in my stash.
-Cut an coordinating opening out of card front. Use a die, punch or cut with scissors.
I used my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and a heart die.
Tip: do any embossing or stamping before starting the iris folding.
The card front is Wood Textured paper, so I didn’t need to do any embossing to get texture.
-Turn the card front over, place opening over the pattern, and secure with tape.
Remember, With iris folding, you always work on the BACK side.
-Lay the strips of paper in the order you will be using them with the side you want to show on the front FACE down.
-Apply adhesive all around the opening.
-Following the pattern attach the first strip of paper face down along the edge of number 1 on the pattern. Attach the second strip of paper along the edge of number 2 on the pattern. Continue with the third strip of paper along the edge of number 3 on the pattern.
Apply adhesive as needed to keep the strips in place.
-Continue all around until the pattern is complete, and you have an empty center. This is the Iris.
-Attach a piece of shimmery or special paper over the iris.
-Attach to card mat and card base, add greeting embellishments to complete!
Done!
The possibilities are endless!
