Country Birdhouse Bird Bath Card

Country Birdhouse Bird Bath Card

The Country Birdhouse stamp set and coordinating dies just make me smile!

I took inspiration from my front yard to create this bird bath card using the bundle.

One of the joys of living where we do in the mountains of southern Colorado is feeding the local birds.

Now in the summer, they include turkeys with poults, Stellar Jays, Crows (they return every year to raise babies), Mountain Pigeons, Doves and Grosbeaks.  A few of the winter birds remain too: juncos and finches along with the year-round chipmunk and squirrel residents!

And  right now, we have a zillion Broadtail Hummingbirds with a couple of Rufous mixed in.  My full-time summer job is making up nectar and filling the 5 feeders we have around the property!

We don’t need to set up a bird bath because we have the North Hardscrabble Creek running through the front of our property.  The creek is an important water source to creatures great and small!

Country Birdhouse Bird Bath Card How To:

1.Stamp Leaf Collection stamp on Basic White card stock using Soft Sea Foam ink. Trim down to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and attach to Smoky Slate card base.

Tip: use a stamp positioning tool as this is a large background stamp, and you probably won’t get a good stamped image the first time around.  It may take 3-4 inkings. I used my Stamparatus.

I would suggest starting with a larger piece of card stock than needed, then cut the piece down as needed to fit your project.

2. Stamp birds from Country Birdhouse on Basic White card stock using Early Espresso ink.

Mirror or Reflection Technique:

To get the bird facing to the left, use the Mirror or Reflection Technique:

-Again, a positioning tool is helpful.  Place the stamp upside down on the positioning tool’s plate.   Ink up and stamp onto a Silicone Craft mat.  Ink and stamp again to get a good inked image.

-Remove the Silicon mat, and place it upside down on a piece of Basic White card stock.  Gently transfer the image from the mat to the card stock using your fingertips.  Now, you will have a mirror image of the bird!

3. Color the birds using Stampin’ Write Markers, Stampin’ Blends, or Watercolor Pencils.  I used Early Espresso and Daffodil Delight Watercolor Pencils. Die-cut the birds using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and coordinating Country Birdhouse Die.

4. Die-cut 2 pieces for the saucer out of Smoky Slate card stock.  Emboss using the Metal Plate Embossing Folder.  Die-cut the base of the birdhouse out of Smoky Slate card stock.  Die-cut flowers and leaves out of various colors of card stock.

5. Cut a piece of Balmy Blue card stock to fit in between the 2 birdbath pieces for the water.  Stamp speckles using Pool Party ink.  Slip the piece in between the 2 birdbath pieces using  Adhesive Foam  Strips in between to pop things up.  Trim the edges of the Balmy Blue piece size.

6. Attach birdbath base and saucer to card front using Adhesive Foam Strips or Dimensionals to pop them up. Add the birds using Dimensionals.  Attach the flowers using Mini Dimensionals.  Slip leaves behind the flowers.  Add gems to the flower centers.

7. Stamp greeting on Balmy Blue card stock using Early Espresso ink.  Attach to card front using Dimensionals.  Add a gem to complete.

I hope this card will make you smile too!
