Stamping With Blue Moon Creations

Iris Folded Turtle

Iris Folded Turtle

My Daughter-in-law loves turtles.

She has 2 box turtles in a very nice outside enclosure, 2 tortoises in a very nice inside habitat, and another water turtle in a very nice aquarium setup.

For her birthday this year, I decided I wanted to give her an Iris Folded Turtle card!

You can see my Iris Folding Page Here, complete with instructions, patterns, and a how-to video.

Iris folding is a paper craft technique that involves folding strips of colored paper in such a way as to form a spiraling design. The center of the design forms an iris — similar to the shape of the iris of a camera lens.

Iris folding always begins with a pattern.  Iris folding patterns are available in books or can be downloaded from numerous websites.

For the turtle card, I found this pattern and guide on Pinterest from Indusladies.com

I used various current and retired designer papers from Stampin’ Up! to create the turtle.  The iris, legs, and tail are from a piece of black glimmer paper.

The background is the stamp Leaf Collection stamped on a Basic White card front using Soft Seafoam ink. I then embossed it using the retired Bark Embossing folder.

I cut two pieces of grass using scissors out of designer paper and Old Olive card stock.

The greeting is from Country Birdhouse, and the flowers are cut out using the coordinating Birdhouse Dies.

I hope my DIL likes her turtle card!

Just a reminder: Stampin’ Up! is offering 15% off select Designer Series Papers in August.

Perfect timing for creating your own Iris Folded Turtle Card!
