Caring by Card October Collection

Caring by Card October Collection

As summer wraps up and the leaves start to turn, I’ve spent some time reflecting on the wonderful ways our handmade cards can reach beyond friends and family—to touch the hearts of those who need it most.

Shining a Spotlight: Caring by Cards—Community Card Giving Projects

Caring by Cards is about more than stamping and pretty paper. It’s about spreading kindness, one envelope at a time.

Through this initiative, crafters share their extra handmade cards with nursing home residents around the country—offering a cheerful hello, a burst of color, or an encouraging sentiment to brighten someone’s day.

Even a small act like this can create a ripple of happiness.

It’s easy to get involved. Gather up cards you’ve made but haven’t sent—think of those stacks from technique experiments, color challenges, and creative bursts.

Each card, no matter how simple, is a gift when shared.

To learn how to participate, visit the Caring by Cards—Card Giving for a Cause page on my blog to see featured projects and learn how your creativity can lift spirits far and wide.

Create and Share: Card Giving Instructions

Set aside handmade cards—any occasion, any style. Add an uplifting message inside if you wish.

Keep the design flat (for easy mailing)—no bulky embellishments.

Bundle 5–10 cards at a time for donation. Address details and drop-off instructions can be found on the Caring by Cards blog post.

It’s a simple way to use extra supplies and keep the creative circle going, all while making a real difference for folks who might feel a little lonely.

If you’re interested in connecting with other givers or want inspiration for your next batch of kindness, check out previous community card giving projects showcased HERE.

Every card tells a story—yours could be the one that lights up someone’s day.
