Caring by Card November Collection

Spread Joy with Community Card Giving Projects
As the leaves turn and the days grow shorter, I naturally reach for my favorite card-making supplies—not just to create for myself, but to give back.
I want to shine a light on the heartwarming world of Community Card Giving Projects.
These projects invite us to use our creativity and stash of handmade cards to brighten someone’s day—whether that’s a nursing home resident, hospital patient, dedicated volunteer, or anyone who needs a smile.
Why Card Giving?
Handmade cards may be small, but they carry a big impact. A card on a bedside table or arriving in the mail reminds someone that they matter.
Many of us have stacks of extra cards and card fronts tucked away—let’s give them purpose! Through community card giving, we connect with others and share kindness that reaches far beyond our craft tables.
Get Involved: How to Start Your Own Card Giving Project
-
Choose a cause or group. Reach out to local senior centers, children’s hospitals, shelters, or charities that welcome handmade cards. You can also join the ongoing effort at Caring by Card, a wonderful project I recently featured HERE
-
Sort and prep your cards. Gather your finished cards or card fronts. Add a short note inside (“Thinking of You,” “Smile Today!”) or leave them blank so staff can write their own messages.
-
Get friends involved. Invite fellow crafters to a card-making session—it’s always more fun when you create together!
-
Deliver or mail your cards. Contact your chosen organization to arrange drop-off or mailing details. Most groups list their guidelines online for card themes and packaging.
