Beautiful Pumpkins Meet the Chalkboard Look

Beautiful Pumpkins Meet the Chalkboard Look

Looking for a fun twist on a classic favorite?

The Chalkboard Technique is back—with a fresh new look!

This simple yet striking method uses dark card stock and a soft touch of White Craft Ink to create that nostalgic chalkboard feel.

I’ve paired it with the Beautiful Pumpkins bundle to show two unique takes on the design—one in full color and one in timeless black and white.

Both are easy to make and perfect for your fall or Thanksgiving card projects!

Chalkboard Technique How To:

Create the Pumpkins

  • Stamp the pumpkins from the Beautiful Pumpkins stamp set.

    • Colored Version: Use the two-step stamping method. Start by stamping the solid image in a lighter color (Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie), then layer the detailed image on top in a darker color (Cajun Craze and Pecan Pie). Add stems in Crumb Cake ink.

    • Black & White Version: Stamp the pumpkins, stems, and vines with White Craft Ink, then heat emboss with White Embossing Powder.

  • Stamp the leaves in Old Olive ink.

  • Die-cut the pumpkins and leaves using the coordinating Beautiful Pumpkins Dies.

Create the Card Front

  • Stamp the greeting with White Craft Ink and heat emboss with White Embossing Powder.

  • For the chalkboard effect, lightly blend White Craft Ink onto the black card stock using a Blending Brush, sponge, or sponge dauber. Focus extra ink around the edges for a soft, realistic chalkboard finish.

Complete the Card

  • Arrange and adhere the pumpkins to the card front, using Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the smaller pumpkins for depth.

  • Attach the completed panel to a Basic White card base to finish your design.
