Origami Embossed Lines

Recently, my aunt sent me a package of beautiful origami paper filled with vibrant colors and eye-catching patterns.
Around the same time, one of my stamping ladies asked if we could create an Embossed Lines project at our next class.
Since the technique uses a paper scorer and stylus to create raised lines as part of the card design, I knew it would pair perfectly with the colorful origami paper.
To make each card unique, I let the students choose their favorite origami pattern first. From there, we selected coordinating cardstock, mats, and ink colors to complement their paper choices.
As a result, every card took on its own personality.
For this project, we cut a square opening in the center of a Basic White card front using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and square die and used the Simply Scoring Tool to create embossed lines on each side of the opening.
The measurement guides along the top and side of the Simply Scoring Tool made it easy to space the lines evenly and determine the length of each one.
Don’t have a Simply Scoring Tool?
A paper trimmer with a scoring blade works just as well.
To add even more detail, I made a simple template from vellum by punching a small hole in the center.
Because the vellum was transparent, we could easily position the template at the end of each embossed line and use a stylus to create a raised dot.
The combination of crisp embossed lines and vibrant origami paper created striking cards with plenty of texture and visual interest.
