Bokeh Blooms-Color Dare 717

Bokeh Blooms-Color Dare 717

Here are this week’s colors for the Color Dare Challenge #717.

I saw Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive

Create a colorful background with the Bokeh Technique, one of my favorite ways to add soft layers and depth to a card.

Borrowed from photography, bokeh refers to the beautiful blur found in out-of-focus areas of an image.

By layering translucent circles of color, you can recreate that same dreamy effect on paper.

To make this card, I created a stencil from cardstock using 3/4″, 1″, and 1-1/4″ circle punches.

Next, I applied Melon Mambo, Pretty Pink, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive inks with Sponge Daubers, overlapping the circles to build rich, vibrant color. After the ink dried, I added soft circles of White Craft Ink through the stencil to create the signature bokeh effect.

To finish the design, I die-cut the flower and stem using the Quiet Meadow Dies, then added the greeting from the Sending Smiles stamp set.

The simple floral silhouette allows the colorful background to take center stage while creating a cheerful card for the Color Dare Challenge #717.

I hope you’ll join in the fun! Color challenges are a great way to spark creativity and try color combinations you might not normally choose.

Create your project, share it on your favorite social media platform—blog, Facebook, Instagram, and more—then link your creation on the Color Dare site. I’d love to see what you create!
