Ocean Sunset Color Dare 725

For Color Dare Challenge #725, I created an ocean sunset using the combination of Misty Moonlight and Pumpkin Pie.
I combined watercolor and masking techniques to create the softly textured ocean, distant horizon, and glowing sunset.
The Misty Moonlight captures the cool tones of the water and sky, while Pumpkin Pie adds a warm glow to the setting sun and reflections.
Finally, I added die-cut birds and a simple “Smiles Across the Miles” greeting to complete this peaceful seaside scene.
Ocean Sunset How-to:
Create the Watercolor Background:
-Use a circle die or punch to create a sun mask from masking paper or a Post-it Note.
-Place the circle mask on the watercolor paper card front.
-Using a Water Painter, swipe Misty Moonlight ink across the bottom portion of the card front. Then, add Pumpkin Pie ink across the upper portion.
-Stamp the water image from the Sunset Coast stamp set along the bottom using Misty Moonlight ink. Stamp once at full strength, then stamp again without re-inking to create depth and variation.
-Stamp the sky image along the top using Pumpkin Pie ink. Again, stamp once at full strength, then stamp a second time without re-inking.
-Remove the sun mask to reveal the watercolor sunset.
-Add Wink of Stella to the sun for added sparkle.
Complete the Card:
-Mat the watercolor card front with Misty Moonlight cardstock, then attach it to a Basic White card base.
-Stamp the greeting in Misty Moonlight ink.
-Die-cut the birds from Misty Moonlight cardstock using the Sunset Coast dies, then attach them to the card front.
-Add embellishments to complete the card.
