Hot Foil Cards-Create Two Designs with No Foil Waste
Recently, I pulled out Stampin’ Up!’s Hot Foil System, the Botanical Glow Hot Foil Die, and strips of gold, silver, and copper foil to create two of my favorite hot foil cards so far.
I love how the three metallic colors shine against the Basic Black cardstock!
But once I finished foiling, I couldn’t bring myself to throw away all those beautiful leftover foil pieces.
Luckily, the Reverse Hot Foil Die gave me the perfect way to put them to work.
This solid die transfers the foil left behind after the first pass, allowing me to get two designs from the same piece of foil—the original Botanical Glow image and its reverse, or negative, design.
I used those reverse-foiled pieces to create two completely different cards, proving that even hot foil “scraps” can shine!
For this card, I reverse foiled the leftover foil from the first card, then cut the finished piece into strips to create the background.
To complete the card, I stamped and punched a leaf from Copper Metallic Cardstock using the Simply Leaves Bundle, then added two more punched leaves from Gold Metallic Cardstock.
I finished the design with a hot-foiled greeting created with the Sweet Sentimental Dies and added Silver Metallic Pearls for another touch of shine.
For this second card, I randomly arranged bits and pieces of gold, silver, and copper foil on the Botanical Glow Hot Foil Die to create the first design.
I then reverse foiled the leftover foil, creating a colorful abstract pattern that I punched into circles of various sizes.
Then, I arranged the circles on Basic Black cardstock and finished the card with a reverse-foiled greeting on Basic White cardstock using the Sweet Sentimental Dies.
