My Mom and I just returned from a week-long trip to Iowa. We attended the annual Tulip Festival in Pella, Iowa. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate as it was cold, rainy and snowy during the festival. Tough weather for tulips and the festival, but Mom and I had a great time exploring the area. We were able to visit Pella the day before the festival began. It was a warm, sunny day and the tulips in the town square were beautiful!
I created this tulip flower pot card in celebration of our adventures in Iowa!
Flower Pot: Start with a piece of card stock measuring 9″ x 3 1/2″. Score it at 2″ and 5 1/2″. Fold the 2″ section towards you and the 5 1/2″ section away from you. Trim up the sides at angle to create the pot.
Tulips: Punch out 3 of the “wings” on the Bird Builder punch
and layer. The leaves were punched using the Blossom Petals Builder
punch out of Old Olive card stock. Using scissors, I cut narrow strips
of Old Olive card stock for the stems.
Insert: The tulips were layered on a piece of 2 1/4″ x 4
1/4″ Whisper White card stock. This was matted onto a 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″
piece of Crumb Cake card stock. The insert just slips into the pot.
There is not any adhesive holding the pot closed. The ribbon tied
around the top will keep the card closed, allowing for the insert to be
put in and taken out easily.
