This card was made using the fun new Pinwheel Sizzlit and coordinating “Wishes Your Way” stamp set found in Stampin’ Up!’s Spring Catalog.
Here are some tips for using the Pinwheel Sizzlit:
Start with a piece of card stock or Designer Series Paper measuring 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″. I found using Designer Series Paper is easier to work with than card stock just because it is not as heavy and stiff.
Run through the Big Shot using Tab 1.
Each arm and the center of the pinwheel will have a hole for inserting a brad. These holes are pretty small and can make you feel like you’re all thumbs when assembling the pinwheel. Here are a couple of ways to make assembly easier.
First, poke out the holes using your paper piercing tool.
Then, hold your paper piercing tool upright on your work surface with the sharp point up. Place the pinwheel on the paper piercing tool through the center hole.
Carefully curl up the 1st wing of the pinwheel,inserting the hole through the tip of the paper piercing tool.
Bring up the 2nd wing of the pinwheel, inserting the hole through the tip of the paper piercing tool.
Bring up the 3rd wing of the pinwheel, inserting the hole through the tip of the paper piercing tool.
Finally, bring up the 4th wing of the pinwheel, inserting the hole through the tip of the paper piercing tool.
Twist the paper piercing tool, slightly enlarging the holes. Carefully remove the pinwheel from the paper piercing tool and insert a brad through the holes from the top, opening the wings of the brad below. Stampin’ Up!’s 1/8″ Mini Brads are perfect for the small holes in the pinwheel.
Here you have a nice full pinwheel.
Here’s another method, but your pinwheels will be a little flatter.
Curl one arm at a time towards the center of the pinwheel. Apply a small amount of adhesive to the center of the pinwheel. Bring the 1st wing into the center and push down into the adhesive. Apply another small amound of adhesive to the center and adhere the 2nd wing to the adhesive. Continue doing this with the 3rd and 4th wings.
Now that the pinwheel is secured together, you can now pierce a larger hole in the center using your Paper Piercing Tool and Mat. Insert a brad from the top, again opening the feet of the brad underneath.
This pinwheel is a little flatter because the wings have been pushed down more to adhere to the adhesive in the center.
I used the coordinating stamp set “Wishes Your Way for the greeting. This set has some fun greetings including “you are headed in the right direction”, “blowing wishes your way” and “wishing you a twirly-whirly birthday.” How cute is that?
