Chalkboard Heart of Christmas-Merry Monday Color Challenge

We have a color challenge this week over at Merry Monday!

Merry Monday 48

Here’s my contribution:

Chalkboard 002

For this card, I decided to give the Chalkboard Technique a try.  I heat embossed the greeting and snowflakes using Versamark and white embossing powder on Basic Gray card stock.  I then sponged on a little Whisper White craft ink to create the look of a chalkboard.  I’m not totally convinced I like this technique.  It seems a bit messy looking to me, but I guess that’s how it is supposed to look!  It was fun to try it though. To bring in a little Pumpkin Pie from the challenge, I used an orange art pencil over some of the snowflakes.  I then drew lines around the border using a white art pencil and ruler.

Supplies Used(all supplies are Stampin’ Up! unless otherwise noted)

Stamp Set: From the Heart, Serene Snowflakes

Ink: Versamark, orange and white art pencils

Paper: Marina Mist, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Gray

Accessories: Embossing Buddy, heat tool, white embossing powder, sponge, ruler

  5. I think you did a good job on the Chalkboard, but like you, I tried it and just thought I made a mess of my otherwise clean black cardstock…I’ll have to try again to see if I can make one look as nice as yours!
