This week’s Nacho Average Challenge is a color challenge. Colors to be used are Real Red, Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise. Bright, Bright and Bright!
Here’s my card:
Funny how the design process works sometimes. When I started thinking about this challenge, I knew I wanted to use the rain boot image in my new stamp set Bootiful Occasions. Mmm, rain boots mean rain, right? So, then the design process moves to images of water: clear, clean, fresh. That helped in making the decision to use a window sheet to create the base of this card!
The boot is mounted on the front of the window sheet and the polka dot background is mounted on the inside. So adhesive will not show through on the very back of the card, the background piece is secured to the base with 3 ribbons on the left hand side. Again to hide the adhesive, I cut a piece of Tempting Turquoise card stock the same size as the matted boot on the front. I then lined up the two pieces back to back, one on the front and the other on the inside of the front.
Here’s the inside of the card
I instantly thought of polka dots when I saw this bright color combination. Now onto the task of making polka dotted background paper in the challenge colors. I tried several different methods using markers but couldn’t seem to get the circles perfectly round. Then a light bulb went off! My Digital Studio! I created a new project using the 1.25 circle punch. I made a grouping of 3 resized smaller circles in the challenge color combination, then just copy/pasted them to fill in the project. I printed it out on glossy white card stock and cut down to size! So easy and I have bright, perfectly round circles as my background paper. End of design process!
