Punch Art Rabbit-In Memory of July, my bun, bun

Punch Art Rabbit-In Memory of July, my bun, bun

A few years back, our household included a very sweet gray house rabbit named July.  July was a stray bunny who appeared one day on our property.  I brought her into the house fully expecting to find and return her to her owner.  That didn’t happen, and after bunny proofing the house, she became a full-fledged and active member of our household.  July was very, very smart and very, very stubborn, but she was the sweetest creature. She became my constant companion, especially while I worked in my craft room.  To this day, I still have a framed photo of her on my craft desk.  For whatever reason, I have been thinking a lot about July, and I still miss her terribly.

When I saw the gray patterned designer series paper in the Twitterpated paper pack (found in the Occasions Mini Catalog), I instantly thought of July.  I’ve been wanting to create a rabbit using this paper in memory of my sweet girl.  I finally took the time to create my little gray rabbit using punches and the Twitterpated paper.

This project may seem like it coincides with Easter and all the punched rabbit projects that have been hitting the blogs. This was not my intent.  But, I know that a lot of people purchase rabbits for their kids at Easter time because, well, they are so cute.  But, rabbits are complicated creatures who have personalities of their own.  I could also go into all the reasons why rabbits DON’T make good pets, especially for kids. And I could go into all the reasons why rabbits do make good pets. All I will say is, please, please, please do not bring a rabbit into your home unless you have done your homework and understand fully the needs of rabbits and how that may affect your household.

In memory of July, my sweet bun bun.

This is a whimsical portrayal of July.
