This was the 2nd project we created at a recent water coloring class I held for the ladies in Wetmore. This is the Water Misting technique.
This technique is very easy to do.
Tip: use watercolor paper for best results when doing any water coloring! (see previous posting dated 07/19/11)
1. Spritz your stamp with water.
2. Color the stamp with watercolor crayons and stamp onto paper.
That’s it!
Depending on how wet the stamp is will determine what the stamped image will look like. The wetter the stamp, the more muted the image. The drier the stamp, the more vivid the image. And the color may run, also depending on how wet the stamp was. But that’s ok. It just depends on the look you are going for.
For this card, I used the two-step stamp Build a Blossom. The solid petal images were spritzed with water, then colored using a Pink Pirouette watercolor crayon. The line petal image were spritzed with water, colored using a Melon Mambo watercolor crayon and then over-stamped over the solid petals. The center circle was inked full strength from the Melon Mambo ink pad, but you could easily water mist the image for a more muted look.

Paper: Watercolor paper, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Accessories: 1″ and 1 1/4″ circle punches, Dimensional, spritzer bottle
