Fabric Scallop Envelope Bigz Die

You’ve heard me say it before, but I LOVE the Big Shot die-cut machine.  I especially love that I am able to cut out patterns in fabric (see Top Note Bigz Die Fall card posted on 09/27)

I really like working with fabric, but again, I’m not thrilled with sewing.  In fact, I find it very frustrating.  But once a year or so, I get an urge to sew something.  If I’m patient, I know the urge will pass.  But sometimes, it is just too strong, so I head to the fabric store and dig my sewing machine out of the back of the closet.  The fabric used for this project was a summer dress I made for myself several years ago.  It came out ok, but I didn’t wear it much.  I think the fabric has been put to a much better use on this card:

Here’s the inside with a small greeting tucked inside:

Fabric Scallop envelope 1 002

Stamps: Bella Blossoms

Paper: Sahara Sand, Pacific Point, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze

Ink: Pacific Point

Accessories: 5/8″ Chocolate grosgrain ribbon, Earth Elements and Neutral buttons, Big Shot, Scallop Envelope Bigz Die, mini glue dots, and glue gun.

Here’s how:

Cut your fabric and a piece of card stock to the same size.

Glue the fabric to the card stock.  An Anywhere Glue Stick from Stampin’ Up! works great!

Sandwich the pieces and run it through the Big Shot using the Scallop Envelope Bigz die.

Separate the two pieces, and you’re ready to create your project.

I found using a glue gun to glue the sides of the envelope works best when glueing fabric.  Snail or Mono Adhesive and Sticky Strip just don’t hold as well.
