Crafting with Aluminum Cans-Great Divide Denver Pale Ale

Card Making with Aluminum Cans

One of my favorite crafting techniques is to cut shapes out of aluminum cans and add them to my card creations.

I’m always looking for exciting designs and colors on aluminum cans.

Fortunately, my husband is a craft beer drinker and always brings home new beers to try.  Often, these beers have interesting labels on the cans.

My husband drinks the beer; then I confiscate the cans to create!

Recently, he had Denver Pale Ale from Great Divide Brewing Co with this fun image on the cans.

The artwork on the current can is number 5 in the Denver Pale Ale Artist Series, and the artist is Adam Vicarel.

According to Great Divide’s website, “Our Denver Pale Ale Artist Series is an ode to the city we’ve called home for the past 24 years.  With a beer name like Denver Pale Ale and a home in the RINO Art District of Denver, we decided to turn the can into a canvas and let local artists show off their stuff.  A fresh can will be released every year exhibiting artwork created by a new Denver artist.”

Cool!

Perfect for me to craft with as well.

Card Making Using Aluminum Cans-Here’s How:

  1. First, I cut and opened the can using a pair of tin snips, then trimmed it down using my guillotine paper cutter.
  2. Next, I matted the piece to Calypso Coral card stock, securing the four corners with brads from my stash.  Then I attached it to a Basic Black card base.
  3. The greeting is from Snow Globe and was stamped on Calypso Coral card stock with Memento Black ink.  I  punched out using my 3/4″ circle punch and then matted it to a Basic Black 1/2″ circle.  It is popped up using a Dimensional to complete.

So easy, and  I have a one-of-a-kind card!

Here’s what the front of the can looks like:
