719 Rocks!
(719 is our area code)
There’s a big craze going on here in southern Colorado (and maybe in your area too).
We find rocks, paint them, then place them back out in public spaces for people to find and hopefully brighten their day.
They can then re-hid the rocks or keep them for their own collection.
Simple as that!
I’ve jumped on board!
It’s almost become an obsession!

So much so, that I seem to have started looking down everywhere I walk, looking for interesting shapes and colors of rocks.
Luckily, here in the mountains of southern Colorado, we grow lots of rocks!
This is our rock pile along the banks of the Hardscrabble Creek that flows through the front of our property.
This summer, my husband dug out a small portion of the creek with his back hoe to clear out the sediment that has accumulated over the years.
This created a deep pool for our resident brook trout.
As you can see, I have an endless supply of rocks, just in that pile alone!
For these rocks, I decided to try something a little different by adding a little bit of Stampin’ Up! to the mix.
After painting them black, I attached snowflakes cut out of Whisper White card stock using my Big Shot and the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits Dies.
Before cutting them out, I attached the card stock to a piece of sticky-backed Multi-purpose Adhesive Sheet. Then, all I had to do was peel off the backing, and the snowflakes had a sticky back that would easily attach to the rock.
I then added a layer of decoupage to seal and finish them.
Easy, Easy!
