One of my favorite things is to use paint chips in my crafting. For this card, I combined paint chips to make a colorful backing for the hot air balloon found in the Up & Away Thinlits die from Stampin’ Up!
And to complete the card I created a sky background using the sponged Cloudy Background Technique.
The color behind the balloon is regular paint chips that you can find in any home improvement store. I love the paint chip displays of all the colors and color combinations.

On a recent trip to our local home improvement store, I made a stop in the paint department and picked up these paint chips:
I pieced them together to create the backing for the balloon using the various pieces of the Up & Away Thinlits Dies:
I attached the pieces to the back of the Whisper White detailed balloon using my Fine Tip Glue.
For the background, I used the Cloudy Background Technique on my Soft Sky card base by sponging on Marina Mist, Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant inks around my “cloud” template.
This is a template I made several years ago using the Big Shot, Large Circle Scallop Die (cut out of light-weight cardboard), and Scallop Circle Punch. I secured several smaller scalloped circles to the larger circle using tape. I reuse this template often and keep it as part of my permanent crafting stash.

The popped up clouds were also cut out of the paint chips using the Up & Away Thinlits Dies.
The greeting from Lift Me Up was stamped on the card front using Elegant Eggplant ink, and candy dots were added to the balloon to complete the card.
Next time you’re in a home improvement store, be sure to make a stop in the paint department. Displays and displays of paint chips are waiting to inspire you.
