Adding Texture Backgrounds Using Paper Towels-Dragonfly Dreams

Dragonfly Dreams with paper towel background

I love recycling paper towels to create fun textured backgrounds in my crafting.

Did you see the paper towel background hot air balloon from my posting on 01/07?

I had a little piece of paper towel left over from that project,  so I used it to create the background behind the dragonfly for this card.

I used the new Dragonfly Dream Bundle found in the Occasions Catalog by Stampin’ Up! The bundle comes with the stamp set Dragonfly Dreams and coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies.  This bundle is one of my favorites found in this new catalog!

To create this card, I started by cutting out a dragonfly from Pink Pirouette card stock using the dragonfly thinlit. I set it aside while I cut another dragonfly out of my Whisper White card front.  I cut my paper towel a little bit larger than the size of the cutout and mounted it to a pieces of scrap card stock using a glue stick.  Before securing it behind the cutout, I stamped the dots from Dragonfly Dreams all over the card front using Melon Mambo ink.  Then, I secured the paper towel piece using SNAIL adhesive behind the cut out, making sure I only put adhesive around the edges so the glue wouldn’t show through once I placed the Pink Pirouette dragonfly over the cutout.  I sponged a little bit of Melon Mambo ink along the edges of the Pink Pirouette dragonfly, then glued it on top of the cutout using Fine Tip Glue.  The card front was then mounted to a Tempting Turquoise card base.

The greeting was stamped using Melon Mambo ink on a scrap piece of Whisper White and matted to a scrap piece of Tempting Turquoise, then popped up using Dimensionals.   A turquoise Candy Dot was added for a little extra interest.
