Last Saturday, we had a big snow storm hit in Colorado. Where we live in the Wet Mountains, we received 18″ of snow! We spent a day without power. Thank goodness for our generator which kept the lights, water and heat on! I spent the afternoon at the dining room table crafting.
I used the stamp set Happy Home which is found in the Occasions Catalog. I’ve had the set for awhile, and thought I better get some ink on it before it retires in June.
I made up some quick watercolor cards using the clear-block stamping technique. I dabbed Marina Mist, Island Indigo and Cucumber Crush onto my “D” block, then spritzed it with a little water making the ink pool. I then placed the block onto my card stock and let it sit for a few seconds. Once the block was lifted, I was left with a pretty watercolor background that I could then stamp my image on. For these cards I used some scrap glossy white card stock (retired). Usually I would use watercolor paper, but I decided to switch it up a little while cleaning out my paper stash.
Love these images. They bring thoughts of summer days, which is great on these snowy days!
The images on these first two were colored in with Watermelon Wonder, Crushed Curry, Cucumber Crush and Early Espresso markers.
The image on this one was stamped with Archival Black ink. The card front is mounted on Basic Black card stock.
I like how each of the backgrounds are a little different depending on how the water pooled on the block.
