Paper-Pieced Sleeping Cat-Nacho Average Color Challenge #114

Paper-Pieced Sleeping Cat-Nacho Average Color Challenge #114

We have a soft and subtle color challenge this week over at the Nacho Average site:

Baked Brown Sugar, Pool Party, and Very Vanilla

Here’s my contribution:

Paper-Pieced Sleeping Cat-Nacho Average Color Challenge #114

I’ve been in an Iris Folding frame of mind lately. I came across this fun sleeping cat pattern by Maureen Sparrow on Pinterest .  Although Maureen created it as a quilting pattern, I immediately thought I could work it into an Iris Folded project.  I printed the pattern out on copy paper, reduced it to 65%, and then printed it out again to use for my project.  After a couple of tries, I decided that I liked the plain Pool Party background rather than having separate sections for the background as shown on the pattern.

After I finished paper-piecing the sleeping cat, I embossed it using my Big Shot and an embossing folder to give it some texture and to make it look more like a quilt.

The greeting came from the My Digital Studio download Cute Cats.

Baked Brown Sugar was one of the colors in the challenge, but once I started on the project I realized that I didn’t have ANY Baked Brown Sugar card stock on hand.  So, I switched gears a little bit and used Soft Suede.  I think it will be ok 🙂

So, it ended up not being an Iris Fold project.  It is more of a paper-pieced faux quilt project! It was a little time-consuming, but fun to do.  I hope it will make you smile!

Be sure to check out each of the Design Team’s entries to the challenge and leave a comment if you can.  It means a lot to all of us!  We’d also love for you to play along with the weekly challenges.  A Linky Tool has been added so you can upload your creation to the Nacho Design Team site.

I watched the videos and realized how to do a shaker card. Pretty cool. The bubble wrap card is so much fun. The blue really stands out in each card. I like your videos. You get right to the card instructions. Great creative ideas. -D Welch
