“Triangle” is our cue word this week over at CASology.
Update: I guess this card is using the photography “bokeh” effect. I did not know it had a name, so thanks to commenters from the CASology group who have enlightened me.
According to Wikipedia,” the bokeh is the blur or aesthetic quality of the blur in out of focus areas of an image.” Learn something new everyday!
Here’s my contribution:
Since I am in full Christmas card making mode, my take on the triangle theme of course would be a Christmas tree!
For this card, I used the polka dot stencil found in the Build a Banner kit to create this Christmas tree with a retro look.
I first created a tree stencil by drawing the shape on a piece of card stock, then cutting out the center. I placed the tree stencil on a piece of Whisper White card stock, adhering it with a little temporary adhesive so it wouldn’t shift while I worked on the circles. I then placed the polka dot stencil over the tree stencil and sponged on Wisteria Wonder, Pistachio Pudding, Marina Mist, Soft Sky and Daffodil Delight ink using sponge daubers. I moved the stencil around to create overlapping circles. When complete, I removed the stencils and stamped the greeting from Greetings of the Season using Basic Black ink. I cut the tree out using a pair of scissors, then popped it up on my embossed Basic Black card base using Dimensionals. I also tried popping it up on a Whisper White embossed card base, then asked my husband what version he liked best. He liked with the black background the best, so here we are!
