Here’s another card I created using paint chips found at my local home improvement store.
Be sure to view another tree I created using green paint chips HERE.
I originally created this card to be a part of this week’s Merry Monday color challenge. The challenge was to use blue, white, silver/gray colors. It wasn’t until I was about to upload it to the site that I realized it also needed to include snowflakes! Oops. That’s what I get for speed reading! Oh well, maybe I can contribute to the challenge next time…
Anyway, this is how the tree started out:
I trimmed the paint chip to create 2 triangles for trees.
Here’s a quick how to tutorial:
Because I didn’t want to waste an actual paint chip the first time around in case I made a cutting mistake (always happens!), I made a photo copy of the chip on regular computer paper for the tutorial.
1. Start with a large paint chip. Trim off the writing on the left hand side of the chip. Trim off the top of the chip to create a rectangle.
2. Cut the rectangle in half on the diagonal from corner to corner.
This will give you two pieces to use.
3. Measure down the left side of the triangle to the bottom point. Measure down the same measurement on the right side of the triangle and mark a point. Draw a line connecting the points.
4. Cut along the line, and you will have a perfectly shaped tree with diagonal stripes!
Add embellishments to the tree as desired. The possibilities are endless!
