Tuesday was garbage day at our house, and as I was busy collecting the week’s trash, I noticed this page torn out of a magazine (Popular Mechanics) laying on top of the waste basket in my husband’s office.

“Mmmm” I thought to myself, “this is really pretty.” So I took it out of the waste basket with the intent of including it in my folder of magazine and catalog pages that I keep and use for inspiration.  Then I checked the CASology web site and lo and behold this week’s cue word was “pumpkin.”  Well, wouldn’t the print on that magazine page make an interesting pumpkin?  Of course!

I started out by stamping the pumpkin image from Button Buddies using Old Olive ink on a piece of Sahara Sand card base.  I used my Stamp a ma jig to line up the 3 images because without it, I knew I’d never get them straight.  Then I punched 3 pumpkins out of the magazine page using my 3/4″ circle punch.  I added the punched circles over the stamped images, popping them up with Dimensionals.   The greeting is from Another Thank you, a new photopolymer set from Stampin’ Up!, stamped in Rich Razzleberry.  A strip of the magazine page was added to the left and bottom edges just to give it a little more color and interest.

Since the card is an odd size (3″ x 4″), I thought I’d better make an envelope to go with it.  I used my new Envelope Punch Board to create a Sahara Sand envelope with a matching strip of the magazine paper and a punched circle to seal the flap.

Oh, and speaking of pumpkins, here is a photo of the 2 pumpkins we grew in our garden this year.  Our growing season is usually not long enough for the pumpkins to get big enough and actually ripen, so these are kind of special.  They were more a yellow color when I picked them from the vine, so I’ve been setting them out on our back deck every day so they can get a little more sun ripening time.  Since we’ve had freezing temperatures at night for the last couple of weeks, I bring these two guys in every evening, and put them out again every morning. It also serves as my daily weight training as the big pumpkins weighs about 25 pounds!  See the moisture on the deck?  That is from a little snow flurry that moved in.  October 15, and we’ve got snow in Wetmore (4″ total!)
