I’ve been having fun experimenting with the Blown Ink Technique. I learned about the the Blown Ink Technique from the great new challenge site The Technique Twist. It is a very easy, and is one of those techniques that each piece you create will be a little different.
Use reinkers to drop ink on a piece of matte or glossy card stock, then blow the ink around using a straw or color spritzer tool. If you are using matte card stock, add ink in small areas and blow quickly before the ink has a chance to dry. If you are using glossy card stock, add small amounts of ink because if you have too much or if you have big globs of ink, it will never completely dry. Be sure to check my posting from 07/16 for more details.
This one was created with Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Marina Mist inks. For a little added interest, I add some Crystal Effects and blew it around as well. Now the piece has a nice shine to it.
At first I wasn’t sure what I’d do with the piece. I thought maybe I’d cut it into pieces or punch flowers or butterflies out of it. It sat on my work table for a few days while I decided. In the end, I liked the colors and the shine and decided to create a simple card with it as the focus. It reminded me of an abstract painting a friend of my Mom’s had hanging in her living room when I was a child. I remember liking to look at the swirls, splatters and different colors.
The stamp set is Sweet Serendipity which is retired. I recently came across this set stored in a box of retired stamp sets. I decided it was finally time to sort through all the sets and try to sell them. But, I could not part with Sweet Serendipity. It is now stored with the handful of other stamp sets I will keep.
I started with 100 sets in 4 boxes. I have sold close to half of the sets and I’m down to 2 boxes! It feels good to do some spring cleaning. If you are interested in seeing what I have left for sale, please visit HERE for a link to a pdf file of what’s available.
