I recently discovered a great new challenge site called The Technique Twist. Every two weeks, we will be challenged to try a new technique. This week’s challenge is the Quartz Technique and the hosts of the site graciously included my Quartz Technique instructions to pass onto those who might want to participate. So, of course, I had to get out the Crystal Effects and reinkers and play along with one of my all-time favorite techniques!
For this card, I stamped Pleasant Poppies using Black Stazon onto the window sheet before I started the Quartz Technique. Then, I did the technique on the back side of the window sheet. I did this because sometimes, despite all my best intentions, the stamping is not to my liking. We’ve all been there right? So, then the background that I’ve spent so much time on is wasted. By stamping first, I can make sure I am satisfied with the stamped image and can continue on with the technique. This also helps if you are creating a landscape background. You can see the image you are working with, which helps with the placement of different colors.
I used Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist, Pear Pizazz and Calypso Coral reinkers. The Calypso Coral turned out lighter than I planned. It is closer to the color Crisp Cantaloupe. I actually like it better as it is muted like the rest of the colors. This is one of the great things about this technique. Every project will be different!
