Stamping With Blue Moon Creations

Double Stencil Technique-Butterflies and Flowers

Double Stencil Technique

Let me show you how to do the fun Double Stencil Technique using Butterflies and Flowers Decorative Layering Masks from Stampin’ Up!

Your images will really pop when you layer the detailed masks over the backgrounds to get even more depth and dimension.

I created these cards for a clean and simple look.

Double Stencil Technique
Blushing Bride and Flirty Flamingo

Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight

Fresh Freesia and Rich Razzleberry

Here’s How

  1. Place butterfly decorative mask/stencil on Very Vanilla card front.  Secure paper and stencil so they don’t shift using washi or painter’s tape.  I taped off other parts of the stencil as well so I wouldn’t get color where I didn’t want it.
  2. Using a Blending Brush, add color.  This should be the lighter color.
  3. Place flower decorative mask/stencil over the butterfly.  Secure it so it doesn’t shift using washi or painter’s tape.
  4. Apply color using a Blending Brush.  This should be the darker color.
  5. Carefully remove the flower mask.  Carefully  remove the butterfly mask.

Done!

Stamp your greeting and attach to a Very Vanilla card base to complete.
