Tissue Paper for Card Making
Upcycle pieces of tissue paper by incorporating them into your card-making projects.
Create pretty abstract backgrounds using plain tissue paper that has ink/color added to it.
I did that with this Watercolor Shapes Flower card with a tissue paper background.
Here’s how to use tissue paper in your card making:
I crumpled up a piece of tissue paper for the background, then smoothed it out. Next, I tapped different colors of ink pads on the tissue paper (Gorgeous Grape, Crushed Curry, and Melon Mambo). I swiped a Night of Navy ink pad over the ridges left from the crinkling.
I didn’t use the paper right away.
Instead, I put it in my stash and didn’t come across it until recently.
After seeing how pretty it was, I knew I had to make a card immediately!
- I attached the tissue paper to a piece of scrap card stock to easily cut it down to the size I needed. I used Stampin’ Seal Adhesive, but any tape runner or sticky-backed adhesive would work. Liquid glue would also work but only use a small amount.
- Once the piece was trimmed, I placed it in my Stamparatus. I was afraid that I would not get a good stamped image on the first try because of the slight texture of the tissue paper. I placed the large circle from Watercolor Shapes on my Stamparatus plate and stamped it using Magenta Madness ink. I was correct in thinking I wouldn’t be able to get a good image with just one try. It took a few stampings to bring the boldness of color I wanted.
- Next, I placed the oval in the Stamparatus to stamp the flower petals. I quickly realized that the petals could be stamped once and that I didn’t need to use the Stamparatus. So, I placed the oval on a clear block and stamped around the circle at full strength, then stamped off as I stamped in between the full strength ovals.
- I attached the tissue paper to a Basic Black mat, then to a Basic White card base.
- I stamped the greeting from Pansy Petals in Versamark ink on a scrap piece of Basic Black card stock, then heat embossed it using white embossing powder.
- I added the greeting using Dimensionals to pop it up. Then, I added some 2022-204 In Color Rhinestones to complete.
Done!
I like the brightness of the ink on the tissue paper background!
