Faux Tooled Leather Technique
Create the look of leather with the Faux Tooled Leather Technique
Here’s How:
- Emboss a piece of Very Vanilla card stock using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and Leaf Fall Embossing Folder. I die-cut my Very Vanilla piece using a circle die.
- Apply ink over the embossed image with a Blending Brush, Sponge Dauber, or sponge. Keep adding ink to darken if desired. For this card, I used Cajun Craze ink.
That’s it!
The ink over the raised embossing looks like tooled leather!
This technique is excellent for masculine-themed cards.
The possibilities are endless!
Now to complete the card:
- Die-cut a circle out of He’s the Man Designer Series Paper using a die-cut machine, and Layering Circles Dies.
- Create a frame for the circle by nesting two circle dies, one inside the other, and cutting out of He’s the Man Designer Series Paper.
- Attach the Designer Series Paper card front to the Faux Tooled Leather piece using Dimensionals to pop it up. Attach to Cajun Craze or Early Espresso card base.
- Attach a circle frame using Mini Dimensionals to pop it up.
- Stamp greeting from Beauty of Friendship on scrap Very Vanilla card stock using Cajun Craze ink. Attach to Cajun Craze mat and add to card front using Dimensionals to pop it up.
- Add metallic dots to complete.
