Floating Strips Sunrise
inspired by a recent sunrise here at my home in the mountains of Southern Colorado.
The Floating Strips technique is easy to do and is a great way to use up paper scraps.
All you need is long, narrow pieces of card stock scraps, and a window sheet or transparency sheet.
Floating Strips Sunrise How To:
- Cut varying widths of card stock scraps. I used Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, and Crushed Curry strips 1/4″-1/2″ wide and approx 6″ long.
- Apply strips to a window sheet or transparency sheet, leaving a space in between strips.
- Punch or die-cut a shape. I used my 2 3/8″ circle punch.
- Attach to card front, apply adhesive to the back side along the strips so the glue does not show through to the front. I used Mini Dimensionals along the back to pop it up.
- Punch or die-cut an embellishment to add to the front of the floating strips. I used the trees from the retired Mountain dies cut out of Basic Black card stock.
- Stamp greeting on Crumb Cake card front. I used the greeting from Just My Type stamp set. The greeting also includes “and rainbows,” which I didn’t want stamped on the card. So, I simply added a piece of scotch tape over the unwanted words, inked up using Memento Black, removed the tape, and stamped. Easy to get the greeting I wanted!
- Attach die-cut trees to floating circle using Mini Dimensionals to pop them up. Add Black Matte Dots to complete.
The possibilities are endless!
Use any color combination and embellishments!
