While I had my stash of paint chips out after creating my masculine-themed paint chip gears card posted HERE, I decided I’d use this cute kitten paint chip to create a thank you card for Sally, our favorite pet/house sitter.
Sally always takes such good care of our critters while we are away.
She is such an animal lover, and I knew she’d appreciate this card.
Crafting with paint chips is one of my all-time favorite crafting techniques. I just let the paint chip do the heavy lifting.
But, one thing that can be a challenge is matching the colors on the chip with Stampin’ Up! colors. That was the case with this card.
After holding the chip up to several different colors in my stash, I finally chose Basic Gray as the matting which picks up the gray in the wood behind the kitten.
The yellow didn’t quite match anything, but it came closest to Delightful Dijon (retired), so I used it as my card base. I wished I had a small piece of More Mustard (long-time ago retired!) as I think it would have matched perfectly. I think the Delightful Dijon works ok though.
The green is almost Always Artichoke, but not close enough to Mossy Meadow. So, I stamped my greeting from Wish Big using Always Artichoke ink on a Very Vanilla banner.
Remember, the names of the paint colors are printed on the middle of the paint chip, so I always use a banner piece for my greeting to cover it up.
I sponged Basic Gray along the edges of the banner.
I added a More Mustard brad from my stash to add interest.
This card came together pretty darn fast. Again, I just let the paint chip to most of the work!
